  • 1972

    Phytal is founded by Jean-Paul Llopart, biologist and naturopath, and Rosanne Verlé, a beautician. In 1972, Phytal is a brand that focuses on cosmetics of natural origin developed for beauty salons. Revolutionary in his approach to beauty which he considers inseparable from health, Jean-Paul Llopart then lays the foundations of his 'Naturo-Esthétique®' range. Early on, a few leading products helped build the brand's recognition: Crème Absolue, Gommage Contact+ exfoliating mask and the purifying Sérum C17

  • 1974

    J.P Llopart discovers a way to package thick or semi-thick products' formula in glass ampoules and filed a patent. The following year, all the brand's products are packaged like that. Glass ampoules ensures the products are kept in an air-tight environment and are therefore not contaminated. Each ampoule contains one single-use treatment dose for one treatment.

  • 1976

    Phytal becomes PHYT'S AROMATIC. The name is taken from the words phytotherapy (treatment by plant maceration) and aromatherapy (treatment with essential oils).

  • 1982

    The products are now also packed in aluminium tubes, to sell them directly to clients who had tried the professional treatments in a salon.

  • 1985

    Professional treatment packs are created by combining different product's ampoules together - they come wrapped in a bubble pack. One bubble pack = one treatment.

  • 1988

    PHYT'S launches a range for men starting with an aftershave lotion. This range will be known later as ''Phyt's Men''

  • 1990

    The very first Naturo-Esthétique® training centre opens its doors in Alenya in the Pyrénées-Orientales region. Phyt's changes the material used to manufacture the tubes and starts using polyfoil which helps in the preservation of the products and is 100% recyclable.

  • 1993

    Creation of Laboratoires Jérodia and Institut Jérodia in Crayssac (France) and specialising in dietary supplements.

  • 2002

    Phyt's, alongside other companies, takes part in writing up the Charte Cosmébio, a private chart which aims at creating ethical products for the consumer.

  • 2004

    PHYT'S AROMATIC becomes Laboratoires PHYT'S. PHYT'S is bought out by Thierry Logre, a biologist passionate about phytotherapy, aromatherapy and non-traditional medicine. Already the head of a dietary supplement Laboratory, he takes control of the brand motivated by a desire to keep the spirit and uniqueness of PHYT'S alive.

  • 2007

    L'Institut Phyt's opens its doors in an old wine cellar in Caillac (close to Cahors in the heart of the Lot, France). Another brand, Gamarde, is launched bringing together the healthy properties of the natural mineral water from Gamarde-les-Bains with Organic Argan oil in a bid to help sensitive skin types.

  • 2008

    The company buy Bionatural® a brand specialising in retail and professional products for the body.

  • 2009

    PHYT'S creates the very first fully organic-certified make-up line. PHYT'S ORGANIC MAKE UP is unique in that sense that it offers a comprehensive range of products.

  • 2010

    The brand's Research & Development department create a SPF50 sun cream with a light, easily-absorbed texture. New product ranges follow such as Aquaphyt's based on super-moisturising naturally-sourced hyaluronic acid.

  • 2011

    The White Bio-Active Phyt's range is launched reinforcing Phyt's will to offer top products such as its brightening creams. Tests confirms the brightening qualities of this innovative formula: 'Phyt's Whitening Complex' based on bearberry, liquorice and essential oils (celery, carrot seed, etc.).

  • 2012

    PHYT'S celebrates its 40th anniversary and acquires Françoise Morice Beauty College and brand of products.
