ECOCERT is an independent organization that represents the highest international standards for nature-friendly products. At a time of booming consumer demand for natural and organic products, this is an important development in giving consumers confidence.
The ECOCERT organization inspects cosmetics, textiles and food products in more than 80 countries. Its extremely strict standards encompass the entire production chain: confirming that the raw materials can be traced back to environmentally responsible sources, ensuring that those materials stay pure through the manufacturing process and checking the manufacturing process itself for the lowest possible environmental impact.

ECOCERT Requirements:
For a skincare product to be certified organic with ECOCERT, it must meet the following standards:
• A minimum of 95% of total ingredients must be of natural origin
(Natural origin = product coming from nature and transformed by authorised processes.
Authorised processes = Must be environmentally friendly e.g no ethoxylation, sulfonation or irridation.)
• A maximum for 5% of total ingredient can be synthetic (e.g for preservation or processing aids)
• A minimum of 10% of total ingredients must be from organic farming
• A minimum of 95% of ingredients must be from vegetal origin.
